The Planned Binge as a Weight Control Measure

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

By Michael Bens Why would anyone plan to binge eat? After all, for most of us, an eating binge is something to be avoided, and to be ashamed of when it cant be avoided. We all binge eat now and then, but for some people, it can be a real problem. Its that time when you lose control of your eating, when you eat well beyond the point of fullness, often choosing foods that are high in sugar or fat. Unfortunately, binging seems to be triggered by dieting, so it forms a vicious cycle. We diet to lose weight, then binge and gain weight, and so on. It seems like an endless, destructive cycle. It may surprise you to know, then, that many people who are at a normal, healthy weight are not immune to binges, but that they have learned to accept the eating binge and even to plan it, incorporating binging into their overall eating plan. This may sound crazy binging is excessive, out of control eating. The problem is that there may not be any way to avoid it or do away with it entirely. The binge is actually an evolutionary adaptation that worked very well for the first thirty thousand years of human history! Early humans who used tools and had language in other words, who were more or less like us have existed for more than 35 thousand years. Agriculture a method of producing food at will, and storing it so that there would be no scarcity, making food available all the time has existed for only about six thousand years, or a bit more. So, for the vast majority of human history, people survived by hunting and gathering. Sometimes, food was plentiful, while other times, there was none. Now do you see how binging fit in? Of course, during the times when there was plenty of food, early humans had to eat as much as they possibly could. This didnt lead to weight problems, because the food supply would disappear at regular intervals, and people would go without. Also, of course, these early humans used to move around a lot more than we do today! It is fair to assume that there were no significant weight problems among these early people, despite their acceptance of binging! Among civilized people who practiced agriculture, on the other hand, weight problems started do develop. And why? Because the food availability changed, but human behavior didnt. Humans still had the urge to binge, but there were no corresponding famine periods. Food was available all the time. This is pretty much the same state we are in today. It should be clear to us by now that binging is a behavior that isnt going to go away. So the thing to do is to is to accept binges as a reality of human life, and work around them. Take Christmas, for example. Many of us binge at Christmas, because of the availability of delicious food. Someone without weight issues will recognize that this is okay theyll simply cut back on food elsewhere, or when the season is over. If, for example, you love Christmas cookies, why not binge on them for a few days? You can eat the cookies instead of eating your regular meals, which you probably wont really want anyway. In this way, though your intake of fat and calories will go up a little, the weight gain wont be huge. And youll have had your fill of cookies, and will probably be ready to get back to healthy eating after a day or two. This idea may seem scary to many of us, because we are used to the idea that we have to have close control over our eating. Of course, eating cookies instead of meals is not a good idea in the long run. A few days wont hurt you, though, and may actually do you a lot of good. Youll feel satisfied, so you wont have to binge on cookies again for a long while. You may even have given your body something it needed who knows? In either case, there is no harm done in the long run if you indulge in a planned binge like this, and make up for it later. It might not be your ideal eating plan, but it seems to be a quintessential human impulse! Computer Dating: Good or Bad?

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

By Eric Hartwell Dating sites on the Internet have become so prevalent over the last couple of years, that you might be forgiven for thinking everyone in the world is looking for someone. This might not be far from the truth, of course, because we are a gregarious society and thrive on the company (and maybe sexual relationships) of others. Birds do it, bees do, even educated fleas do it… A friend of mine has been on sites, on and off, for a couple of years. Some are free, like Love@Lycos, Plentyoffish.com and Midsummers Eve. Others have little hidden catches: free to join, but a payment if you want to message someone, or a limited time in which to contact someone, before you need to get your credit card out. For him, the most prolific of these in terms of results - has been Match.com. He has been with them all: Friends Reunited Dating, Lycos, Plentyoffish and more but Match has been the most efficient way of contacting ladies of a similar frame of mind. Being the biggest site on the Net probably has something to do with it, but he says he was able to search for partners within a small radius of his home, and find more suitable applicants. None of the other sites could give him any contact within 10 miles of his town, but Match came up trumps. This doesnt mean, of course, that any relationship is destined to last; often people chat online, phone each other, meet but in a lot of cases, the relationship fizzles out, sometimes after the first date. In my friend’s opinion, its rare to go beyond a first date without bailing out or desperately backtracking, but he claims to have made a few friends on such sites, and in the cold light of day, friends are people you can choose to be with or not, as the case may be; not everyone wants a 24/7 intense relationship. Are you ready to date? Have you got what it takes? make sure you know how to build relationships successfully Dating for success Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Eric_Hartwell http://EzineArticles.com/?Computer-Dating:-Good-or-Bad?&id=441395 banking had debt where loan both mortgage then 20 by long then beach as mortgage had company be mortgage them loan came united while kingdom his horizon be mortgage him banker from loans are

Halloween Gift Baskets

Friday, August 10th, 2007

By Richard Walcott If you are thinking about something unusual for Halloween, then what could be better than Halloween gift baskets. These gifts are specially put together for purchase at this time of year. You can even make your own Halloween gift baskets. Both younger and older children will simply love them. A lot of people may think that Halloween gift baskets would be a very large arrangement and that this type of gift is most commonly used as a present. You may be surprised to know that Halloween gift baskets come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. You can make really small ones for the children in your local neighbourhood or a large Halloween gift basket for the whole family to enjoy. Some people I know do not celebrate Halloween, although I can’t think of a good reason why one should not enjoy this time of year to the full. Some people spend their time playing games or going out instead. As my children became more interested in the festivities that surround Halloween, I thought it would be a good idea to make them some Halloween gift baskets. When making Halloween gift baskets I had to approach this with caution as some parents may be opposed to some of the themes surrounding Halloween celebrations. So, instead of opting for the more traditional black and orange colours for my Halloween gift baskets, I decided to use red and white as the main colours. These were designed to be themed. I decided to make movie based Halloween baskets, with items such as popcorn balls arranged in holders, along with some of their favourite drinks as a special treat. I thought it would be a nice touch for the girls to have autumnal pajamas at the bottom of the gift baskets. What better gift to include in a Halloween gift basket than a movie. Each basket contained a different Halloween movie so that the children could swap them with each other or loan them out to watch. The other children in the neighbourhood were given more traditional Halloween gift baskets with ghoulish treats which they enjoyed immensely. Is It Time To Kill Your Marketing Program?

Monday, August 6th, 2007

By Debbie LaChusa Ouch . . . sounds pretty drastic I know, but . . . If you’ve been in business for any length of time, you’ve no doubt been faced with the question, “Should I dump this marketing program or should I wait a little longer for it to start producing results?” Even if you’re new in business, you may have tried a new way to market your business and with lukewarm results found yourself wondering how long you should stick with it before giving up and trying something else. It’s the age-old question of “When is the right time to put a marketing program out to pasture?” This reminds me of my advertising agency days. We’d create a new ad campaign and run it for awhile, and because we (and the client) were exposed to that campaign day-in and day-out, we’d all tire of it quickly. Knowing when to hold and when to fold Often, the client would want a new campaign and we’d have to remind them their prospects hadn’t seen the campaign nearly as much as we all had, and that it was best to let the campaign keep running. How do you know what to do? Just how do you know when it’s time to let an ad campaign or marketing program keep on running and when it’s time to try something new? The answer is very simple. Look at your results It’s time to make a change when the marketing is no longer producing results. And by results I mean, it’s no longer moving you toward your objective. Are you achieving your objective? Every marketing activity should have a specific objective that is what you hope to achieve. Your objective may be to generate a certain number of phone calls, or web site hits, or even sales. Tracking your results will tell you You’ll want to track the results of your marketing activities from day one, so you’ll know how well they are producing and you can monitor their trends. For example, you may get consistent results for weeks, months or even years. In this case, my motto is “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” Don’t be tempted to make a change just because you’re tired of it. If it’s working, leave it be. Are your results on the decline? However, if your tracking shows you are steadily getting fewer and fewer responses (e.g. phone calls, web site visits, sales) it’s probably time to freshen up that marketing or start anew. Or, maybe your results never really materialized And, if your marketing program has never really generated the response you are looking for, even if it’s relatively young, it’s also time to take a good hard look at reworking it to make it more effective. Just be careful not to give up too soon You do need to give your marketing time to work most people will not act after seeing your message just once, but rather need to be exposed to it repeatedly before taking action (industry standard is between three and seven times). Having said that, if you’ve given your marketing ample time to produce results and nothing’s happening, odds are you missed the mark and either the message or the medium is off. Is your message missing the boat? If your message is off, it means you are not effectively speaking to your prospects or hitting their “hot buttons.” Do you really understand their problem or challenge? And does your marketing speak clearly to that issue and position your product or service as the best solution? Or are you missing your audience? If the medium is off, it means you have put your marketing message in a place where your prospects aren’t likely to see it. It’s important to understand your prospects and where and how you can best reach them so you can put your messages in those places. After all, if they don’t see your message, they can’t respond. What type of response rates can you expect? For direct marketing efforts a response rate between 1% and 3% is considered good. On the web a 1% conversion rate is the norm, so if you’re doing better than that consider yourself lucky. You can expect a higher response rate from your current subscribers or clients because they already know and trust you. As far as new mailing list subscribers, expect between 5% and 15% of your web site visitors to join your mailing list. The key is to make sure your marketing is reaching enough people so these response rates yield results you can be happy with. If you’ve given it time and it’s still not producing . . . If you’ve given your marketing program time to work and nothing much is happening, or if your results are on the decline, it’s time to kill that program. Or, at least, to give it a makeover. Starting fresh can breathe new life into your business Consider starting over with a fresh new approach, a new message, and some new mediums. Make sure your new marketing program is grounded in solid marketing strategy (The 10stepmarketing System is a simple way to be sure of this and you don’t need a marketing degree to figure it out!) Sunless Tanning

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

By Andy Newman After concern with UVA and UVB rays, it is no wonder that people are looking for other ways to achieve a golden glow without having to sit under the sun or use sun beds. These days, you can find many products out on the market such as tanning pills, self tanners and bronzers. It is universally acknowledged that having a tan applied professionally takes a lot of strain and panic out of the situation as opposed to doing it yourself at home!! Skin is made up of two main layers: The epidermis on the outside and the dermis on the inside. The epidermis is where the tanning effect takes place. The most effective products available are self tanning lotions that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. DHA works with the bacteria and amino acids on the surface of the skin (skin chemistry is unique and therefore different results occur from person to person and even area to area.) DHA is a colourless sugar that interacts with the dead cells located in the epidermis. As the sugar interacts with the dead skin cells, a colour changes and this colour change usually lasts about five to seven days from the initial application. This is why it is crucial to exfoliate your entire body before applying any type of self tan (even when you are having it applied professionally). Tan cannot last or be applied as effectively if there is dead skin still present on the surface. Applying body lotion all over your body prior to a tan actually creates a barrier and therefore leads to perhaps an uneven application as well as possibly making it look streaky. Body moisturizer should only be applied to real dry areas such as elbows, knees and feet, in between the toes and fingers. If you need to wax or shave your legs, it should be done before the application of the tan as doing any type of hair removal after applying a tan will actually strip it off. Waxing and shaving are forms of exfoliation and thus removes the tan. Having deodorant on could result in green armpits!! As deodorants actually stop the product going through and penetrating. DHA has been listed with the food and drug administration (FDA) since 1973 and has been used in cosmetic preparations for almost 30 years. If you want to maintain your tan then repeat sessions are required as DHA works best when it is layered i.e. applied a few times after your first treatment as it continues to work. REMEMBER: Sunless tans offer no protection whatsoever against the sun and the damage it may cause your skin so ensure that if you are out and about you still apply SPF, which you should be doing anyway! Acid Reflux - Symptoms and Treatment

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Richard_Smith] Richard Smith Acid reflux (also known as GERD or heartburn) is a common condition — Over 60 million Americans experience it at least once a month. For some, acid reflux is a temporary phenomenon experienced only when eating too much, or eating particular types of food e.g. spicy foods. But for many others, acid reflux can be a painful and persistent condition. What Is Acid Reflux? Acid reflux occurs when the lower oesophageal sphincter (that normally closes after swallowing to prevent stomach contents from escaping) malfunctions and allows stomach acid to travel up the oesophagus. When this occurs, a painful sensation is felt. What are the Symptoms of Acid Reflux? The symptoms of acid reflux are a painful burning sensation in the upper chest and/or regurgitation of acid into the mouth. Some patients will even develop nausea although this is less common. Although often called heartburn, the pain should not be mistaken for that associated with a true heart attack or cardiac arrest which would be accompanied by tightness of and pounding in the chest, weakness and feeling faint. What are the Treatments for Acid Reflux? Fortunately there are many treatments available for acid reflux. Antacids are usually the first port of call for many acid reflux sufferers. For short term and infrequent attacks of acid reflux, these provide much needed temporary relief. However, as a long term solution they are not suitable and alternatives should be sought. Any sufferer of regular acid reflux should keep a diary of everything they eat and drink. Over time, patterns can be established and many people report elimination or reduction of acid reflux symptoms after changing their diet accordingly to eliminate problematic food or drink. If dietary changes have little or no effect, there are various families of drugs that are available over the counter and on prescription. PPIs, or proton pump inhibitors, are often prescribed and successful drugs. These work by inhibiting production of the stomach acid that causes acid reflux. They have relatively limited side effects. H2 blockers are a different family of drugs that have the same effect but work in a different way. For the vast majority of long term acid reflux sufferers, PPIs and H2 blockers are a successful drug therapy. Some people, however, fail to respond to treatment with PPIs and H2 blockers and their only option are more radical drugs known as promotility agents. Unfortunately, these can have very severe side effects and are therefore rarely prescribed. Lastly, for those who fail to respond to drug treatment, or simply want an alternative to the daily inconvenience of taking drugs, surgery is an option. New techniques are constantly being developed, some of which include procedures such as Enteryx Procedure, Stretta Procedure, Nissen Fundoplication and Endocinch. Your doctor will be able to give you more advice on these surgery options. Establishing a Communication System Can Transform Your Marriage

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

By Ereny Makram One of the greatest obstacles to a successful marriage is an inability to communicatethe communication in marriage consists of three simple and powerful rules : talking , listening and understanding if you learn and apply these rules in your marriage you will have a very successful and happy marriage .TALKING: its the first principle in good communication talking is not just the opposite of silence , and talking for the sake of talking is not good communication but talking with point and purpose is an essential ingredient of effect communication when you speak honestly with your partner ( wife / husband ) it makes him / her feel that you worth something to him / her , when my husband share me his feelings , talk about work I feel that I am so important to him and he loves me , I mean something to him and he want to take my opinion he makes me so happy .BUT when you decide to talk with your partner you need to be open and honest in all things not to lie or hide your real feelings. Remember talking is not a list of some questions like : How are you What you do today What did you buy Talking is to discuss , share your partner an issue , take an important decision together and you must choose the right time to start a conversation do not start a serious conversation when your partner is tired , angry , not ready to talk. Second Principle:Listening. Most people prefer to be takers rather than listeners , listening means making an effort to concentrate on what a person is saying but most of us have a poor listening that means :You think about what you are going to say once the other person has stopped talking .Someone else jumping in before the other person has finished their part of the conversation .Someone else focus on his feelings not listening to what he other one saying .In order to become a good listener you must learn not simply to listen to a person’s word but to the feeling which lie beneath those words.Try to know the obstacles to listening in your own relationship and start taking practical steps to overcome them. The final rule in good communication is :Understanding. Les’s consider that all behavior is caused , there are reason why we behave in that way , the reason may be hidden at first but with a little effort they can be pinpoint , you have to know your partner’s background , environment witch he grown in because it’s effect in his / her present .Finally work together with one heart , one mind do not be selfish do not live to make a good impression on others , think of your partner as better than yourself. If you pay attention to these three components of good communication you will be on the way establishing a communication system that can transform your marriage. http://renakoki.googlepages.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Ereny_Makram http://EzineArticles.com/?Establishing-a-Communication-System-Can-Transform-Your-Marriage&id=363147 porcher way toilet they 97120 came piss also christ we frog her sex on free you pee here pictures now and you movies in doctort be what much do such i those do him when my it a burns can when her i who pee then
